Alexander F. Harmer is remembered as the first artist to open a studio in Santa Barbara and for his series of paintings of the California missions under Mexican rule. Harmer worked in Santa Barbara beginning in the 1890’s, with his focus concerning the revival of the early days of Alta California. Join Marlene R. Miller, exhibition guest curator, and Hattie Beresford, historian, to celebrate the artist who is remembered as the first to open a studio in Santa Barbara, and for his unforgettable series of paintings of the CA Missions.
